Currently still in production (according to their Kickstarter page):
Set thousands of years in the future, a derelict spacecraft powered by a human brain [named HENRI] floats aimlessly in the outer reaches of space. Yearning for freedom and yet unable to move, HENRI devises a plan to build himself a mechanical body from parts of the ship.
Director Eli Sasich was kind enough to give us an exclusive interview about the film.
What's it about?
HENRI 2.0 is a science fiction short film in
the vein of Philip K. Dick and Isaac Asimov, exploring what it means to
be a conscious individual. We are utilizing old school, in-camera
effects techniques (including the extensive use of miniatures) to bring
the story to life. Our main character is a robot, which we are
accomplishing through a highly articulated rod puppet.
Where are you in the process?
We just finished our third week of principal photography and have another week of pick-ups and additional scenes to shoot.
What have you done before this project (if anything)?
I have produced and directed a couple other short films in various genres – a gothic western, a creature-feature horror etc. I love genre films in general, but science fiction, when done right, is my favorite.
What's stressing you out most right now?
Production is 90% over, so my stress has already peaked. The next step is editing (my favorite part) and pulling together what will hopefully be a unique and thought provoking short film.
How can people help out, if they want to support your project?
We have been running a Kickstarter campaign to help offset our post-production costs. Our project page is: http://kck.st/cLEnyJ. However, we know times are tough so if you can’t donate, any help spreading the word through Facebook, Twitter or blogging would be a great way to contribute. Or just post the link to our Kickstarter page.
When do you think we'll be able to see it?
We are trying to have a completed film in time for Sundance and some other festivals. Sometime in October/November is a solid bet.
What's the website for the project?
Right now we only have a production blog: henrilives.tumblr.com, however we will be launching an official website for the film as we get a little further along.
